Although many people have visited and seen the majestic symbol of eternal love, it is quite astounding to know that people would like to visit this monument over and over again even with the growing crowds. However, a way around it would be to stay in a hotel near Taj Mahal that would have a great view of the monument.

These are some brilliant hotels in Agra, no doubt. However, they all seem slightly expensive. On my last trip, I was looking for more budget options and didn’t seem to find many, especially not close to Taj Mahal. However, the ones listed here are absolutely gorgeous, considering you’re happy to shell out some money 🙂

    • Ozzy October 6, 2017 at 9:25 am

Hey Medha, thanks for taking the time out to have a look at this list. Please see my intention with this post was to provide info about hotels that has some sort of view of the Taj Mahal. Unfortunately most budget hotels do not have that kind of luxury. Most of the mid range hotels mentioned in the list would cost within a range of US$60-120.
But copious amount of money, anything is possible in terms of luxury, example – Oberoi Amarvilas with the most expensive hotel room in India.

  • Tifanee October 7, 2017 at 1:01 am

Wow, theses are really beautiful! It would be so nice to stay any of the options that you listed and to see the Taj Mahal! They all have such a magical feel to them.

  • Carola October 7, 2017 at 7:38 am

Staying with a view of the Taj Mahal seems like a must-do when visiting this magical place. I wonder whether any of the hotels also offer bespoke tours of the site?

    Happy continued travels!

    • Ozzy October 7, 2017 at 8:04 am

Oh yes they surely do arrange tours Carola. Guess what, the Taj Mahal still have some hidden spots which are only known to very few locals (mostly hoteliers).

  • Fiona Maclean October 8, 2017 at 10:29 am

I love the look of the gateway hotel with that great view. And I am a big fan of Oberoi group. Is there a big premium for staying near the Taj Mahal?

    • Ozzy October 10, 2017 at 10:15 am

Oberoi does have some of the most lux hotels around the world. If you’d like to stay at the Oberoi Amarvilas in Agra then you’ll have to shell out a premium as they are known for being the closest property to the Taj and every room has a Taj view.

  • Jane M October 9, 2017 at 2:25 am

Looks like a fabulous selection of hotels so close to Agra. But, if my stay in India was anything to go by, I bet they’re all pretty expensive. I found it so hard to find good accommodation at a good price in India and ended up staying in some truly awful hotels! I think I’d choose the ITC Mughal if I could fit it into my budget.

    • Ozzy October 10, 2017 at 10:13 am

Hi Jane, the ultra luxury ones are a tad expensive but there are a few mid range hotels with the Taj Mahal view which would fit into most budgets. The Taj Resorts for e.g. has a starting price of US$75 plus taxes.

  • Kaila Yu October 9, 2017 at 5:34 pm

Thanks for the amazing selection of hotels! I would definitely choose to stay at the luxurious ITC Mughal hotel!

  • Liz Deacle October 10, 2017 at 3:26 am

I was ooking at these and thinking I bet we couldnt afford to stay there but then I saw the comments above and $60-$120 would be worth one night to see that view (there are 4 of us). Thanks for such an infomative post!

  • Paul (@luxury__travel) October 10, 2017 at 7:46 am

What a gorgeous hotel. Love those shots with the Taj Mahal in the background! Sadly I never made it to Agra on my trip to Delhi a couple of years ago but next time I hope to get there, and the Taj (we stayed at one of the Taj hotels in Delhi) looks to be the place to stay.

  • Leona October 10, 2017 at 1:38 pm

They all look lovely but I think the Oberoi would be my pick. I have never been to India but it is high on the list

  • Sara Essop October 10, 2017 at 7:29 pm

I visited the Taj Mahal a few years ago and stayed at the Howard Plaza hotel, which I really enjoyed. Great list.

  • Derek Cullen November 16, 2017 at 6:08 am

Although the Sheraton and Blue Radison are overflowing with luxury, I have stayed in the Hilton on more than a few occasions. Obviously not in this part of the world but nevertheless, they always hold up to the same standard and a similar style. Doubletree looks awesome, I saw some more photos online but didn’t realise it also had four restaurants – amazing if you plan on staying there for more than a couple of nights! Cheers for the info

    • Ozzy November 17, 2017 at 7:51 am

Hi Derek, since you have experienced the service of Hilton, Sheraton and Radisson; might I suggest you stay in a Taj or Oberoi hotels anywhere in the world (but more so in India), you will experience something that is unmatched. 🙂

  • Charles McCool November 19, 2017 at 4:57 pm

Well, if I am going to go all the way to Agra (I have not yet been there) then I do hope to stay in a nice hotel. The view from Four Points looks magnificent and I do like SPG. Maybe I will redeem points.

    • Ozzy November 20, 2017 at 6:41 am

Hi Charles, let me just say this – you won’t regret redeeming your point at the Sheraton in Agra.

  • Carol Colborn November 19, 2017 at 8:36 pm

I will choose between the Oberoi Amarvilas and the Four Points by Sheraton. The views of the Taj Majal from there are awesome!

    • Ozzy November 20, 2017 at 6:40 am

Hi Carol, Oberoi Amarvilas and Sheraton are the closest hotels to Taj Mahal. They have impeccable views of the monument from almost every room.
They are ultra luxury hotels and the money spent there is totally worth it!

  • Alli November 19, 2017 at 11:10 pm

Wow, these all seem to have absolutely incredible views of the Taj Mahal! I love the look of The Oberoi Amarvilas, so pretty! This destination is high on my bucket list!

    • Ozzy November 20, 2017 at 6:43 am

Hi Alli, You have got to make a trip to see the Taj asap. The Taj Mahal might be taken off the tourist list soon (as per the local news).

  • Eloise November 19, 2017 at 11:12 pm

Thanks for sharing this. They all look incredibly luxurious. Do you know if there is an eco-friendly option there (making efforts for the local environment and population)? That’s something I look for when I book an accommodation.
I haven’t visited Taj Mahal yet, but in general I think it’s a great tip to stay for one night and visit before the crowd arrives.

    • Ozzy November 20, 2017 at 6:48 am

Hi Eloise, please see The Gateway Hotel and Mansingh Palace hotel in Agra are considered to be eco-friendly and green hotels (eco-certified). They employ local people (mostly) and have organic gardens for the restaurants.
Ideally, I would advise staying for 2 nights at least as apart from the Taj Mahal, there are a lot of interesting places/monuments nearby as well- like Agra Fort, Fatehpur Sikri, etc.
