Luxury hotels in South Goa

Peaceful & Serene Hotels in South Goa, India

Goa is one of the smallest states located on the west coast of India. Essentially a beach destination that sees a major portion of tourists visiting this tiny state to soak up the sun and enjoy the pristine beaches. As a state, it is divided into three zones – North, Central and South. North Goa is primarily the “party’ area of Goa while Central Goa that comprises of the state capital Panjim is the business hub and South Goa is the more serene and quieter part.

South Goa with its amazing beaches and resorts appeals to the luxury as well as budget travellers alike. Unlike the beaches of North Goa, the beaches here are still un-cluttered and there are stretches which are completely secluded. Only a few groups of people can be seen on the beaches of Cola or Palolem chilling among themselves.

OMG! I think the Alila Diwa Goa or the MAYFAIR Hideaway Spa Resort are the winners for me! I will surely keep this in mind if I ever go to India! I am starting to ditch hostels for a bit more luxury now.

Hey Justine, Alila Diwa is one of the best resorts that Goa has to offer. It exudes luxury and comfort in every way possible.
MAYFAIR Hideaway is another good mid-range resort option which is a massive property and great service is its motto.

I’ve heard a lot about South Goa – that it has stunning nature and beaches and is a great way to escape the party scene in the north. These look like fabulous hotels, even the budget option of Joecons Beach Resort looks stunning!

I would definitely be up for booking a villa – though a more difficult decision then seems to be whether you would spend your time in the resort pools or at the beach :D!

Megan, to be honest, the best of both worlds can be experienced by staying in a “beach hut” for a couple of days right on the Palolem beach.

I have been reading a lot about South Goa for awhile! I am blown away by how even the budget hotels look luxury. My mother in law used to go to India 3 times a year for 40 years during her career and she raved about how much she loved it. Maybe its time for a trip!

Hi Nicki, your mother in law has probably seen Goa metamorphose from a lesser known backpackers’ destination to being a beach destination for all budgets.
      You must visit Goa soon!

I would love to visit the Coconut Creek Resort. The name alone caught my attention. I wonder if it still smells like coconuts πŸ™‚ Hotels that offer free breakfast and parking are always a huge plus for me. I also like that some of their rooms offer a balcony. And a huge plus that they offer Yoga classes!

The whole of Goa smells of coconut per say. However, the Coconut Creek has a charm of its own with Yoga classes under the lush green trees.

South Goa sounds like an area I need to explore. I like your hotel and resort picks. Mayfair Hideaway Spa Resort would be my choice. Hubby wants to sample the spicy cuisine of the area.

A great choice of the Hideaway Resort, Rhonda! Spicy cuisine in Goa has a totally different meaning altogether. Although a must try, please be extra cautious as it can get quite hot. Personally, I love Goan Vindaloo!

Oh I love the white and azure blue color of Karma Royal Haathi Mahal. Plus, there’s nothing better than a pool with a hot tub, bar, and waterslide! I only made it up to Northern Goa but Southern Goa seems more of a beach destination than Northern Goa. Love your hotel writeups!

Hi Izzy, I have always wondered why North Goa is more popular. Have found that locals prefer it that way so that people seeking a little peace and tranquillity can visit South Goa and just relax. Thanks for the appreciation πŸ™‚
